Its activities include consultation, workforce education, and resource referral.

VITC is a collaborative program of the Vermont Technology Council and Champlain College.

Connecting to
the Future

In 2008, VITC was appointed to the 11-member board of the Vermont Telecommunications Authority. The VTA, established by the state Legislature in 2007, seeks to bring wireless and broadband access to all regions of Vermont by 2010.

The Vermont Information Technology Center is a major resource for Vermont individuals and organizations with an interest in information technology. The organization believes that IT, as a clean, growing industry that provides high-paying jobs, is vital to Vermont’s future.

VITC facilitates the use of IT among the state’s small businesses, advocates a positive image of Vermont as a state committed to leading-edge information technology, and supports the educational
infrastructure needed to train a highly-skilled IT workforce.

Vermont Information Technology Center

VTA focuses primarily on unserved and underserved areas of the state, working with service providers, communities, and organizations to identify local needs, support infrastructure expansion, and encourage continuous upgrades of existing facilities. It distributes state funded fiber and wireless project grants and plans to sell revenue bonds to finance additional projects.
