Taking the Inititative
The Governor’s IT Training Initiative enables Vermonters to get high-tech training with up to 100 percent of the tuition paid by federal funds. Most of the professional certificate programs are available online from anywhere in the state.
The Vermont Information Technology Center is a major resource for Vermont individuals and organizations with an interest in information technology. The organization believes that IT, as a clean, growing industry that provides high-paying jobs, is vital to Vermont’s future.
VITC facilitates the use of IT among the state’s small businesses, advocates a positive image of Vermont as a state committed to leading-edge information technology, and supports the educational
infrastructure needed to train
a highly-skilled IT workforce.

The programs, which take as little as 8 months to complete, provide industry-recognized training for employed IT workers in need of greater expertise and unemployed or dislocated job seekers wanting new career opportunities.
The Initiative is a collaborative effort of VITC, Champlain College, the Vermont Department of Labor, and the Workforce Development Council.
